Hunger Ends Here.

FOOD BANK

The Hope Center participates in the Washington County Food Bank program, distributing bags of groceries each month to low-income families and individuals. Our food bank is OPEN during the COVID-19 crisis and food bags are available to anyone during this pandemic. We are temporarily waiving the food bank card requirement. To receive a food bag please call 301.739.1165 during office hours (M-F 8:15-11:30am & 12:15-4pm) to schedule an appointment to pick up a food bag. PLEASE SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. We cannot guarantee a food bag if you arrive without an appointment. Thank you.

THIS INFORMATION IS FOR WHEN WE RETURN TO NORMAL FOOD BANK OPERATIONS AFTER THE CRISIS:

To receive a food bag*, please have a photo ID and a Food Bank Card provided by Community Action Council. If you do not currently have a CAC Food Bank Card then please go to CAC immediately to obtain one. CAC is located at 101 Summit Ave in Hagerstown. Visit their website:

Food bags are given out to each card holder once a month.

Our food bags contain items such as peanut butter, canned vegetables and fruits, spaghetti and spaghetti sauce, macaroni and cheese dinners, canned tuna and chicken, cake or brownie mixes, canned soup, instant mashed potatoes and other easy to prepare foods.

To learn more about donating food to The Hope Center please scroll to the bottom of this page.

*Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, if you do not have a CAC Food Bank Card currently you can still receive a food bag. We highly recommend you try to get one as soon as possible.

GREAT HAGERSTOWN

THANKSGIVING FEAST

One of the best holiday traditions in Hagerstown has been taking place since the very beginning.

Our 'Great Hagerstown Thanksgiving Feast' is an annual tradition that takes place in our Trinity Center every Thanksgiving Day at 11 AM.

We have volunteers that come early in the morning to start preparing all the delicious food that will be served buffet style to anyone in the community.

Our Wildside Youth department hosts games and activities for kids and teens before the meal is ready so that families can come and enjoy some great holiday festivities.

After a brief service giving thanks, we bring large serving containers full of some of the best food in the four state region! From delicious turkey to mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, succotash, cranberry sauce, fruit,  an assortment of pies and so much more there is never an excuse to leave hungry!

The whole event takes an incredible team of volunteers that work as cooks, servers, greeters and clean-up. If you are interested in helping, please call our office at 301.739.1165 or email us at volunteer@hagerstownhopecenter.com.

If you would like to just get some good food that day, just stop by the Trinity Center (Walnut St, next to the Thrift Store) at 11 AM. There's plenty of food & parking so invite your family & friends!

Our kitchen goes through a lot of food. Between all the daily meals for our residents and guests and all of the food bags handed out each week, our pantry is in a constant state of activity.

With all the food used to feed thousands each year, it could be a costly drain on our operating budget. But we are blessed to have a community who helps to make sure our panty is never empty and our community is never hungry.

Food donations are a vital part of our ministry. Individuals, families, churches, schools, civic and community groups and others give various types of food all year long. Many groups choose to host a food drive while others pick up products to donate on their weekly grocery run.

Below is valuable information about our food pantry operation. If you have any other questions or concerns, please call 301.739.1165 or email hagerstownrescue@verizon.net.
