We're open & operating during the pandemic with a few changes due to the health and safety of all. Our overnight homeless shelter and food services are still open during this time. Also, our food bag assistance is open and available to anyone and everyone in the community.

Please remember that you must WEAR A MASK IN ALL BUILDINGS. Failure to abide by rules established to protect others during the COVID-19 pandemic could result in expulsion from the property.

FOOD DONATIONS

We will continue to serve daily community meals as well as offer food assistance to people in need during this crisis. With that being said, food donations are extremely important and incredibly helpful at this time. If you would like to donate food please drop it off at our Administrative Office (Admin Office info listed below) or order online to have it delivered (online order info below)

This is a list of various food items we need or use regularly in both our kitchen and food bank program. Please help spread the word to your family & friends and also on social media.

  • Canned meats (tuna, salmon, chicken, etc.)

VOLUNTEERING

While we've cancelled some of our non-essential programs & activities, we still are open to help the homeless and hungry in our area. We need volunteers to help in many different ways around The Hope Center. If you are healthy and able to give some time to help us please email us or call us immediately (contact info below).

We are currently in need of volunteers for our Donation Center (sorting room). We offer flexible hours during the week & a safe environment to work. Please call 301.739.1165 if interested in volunteering in our sorting facility.

Since safety is a top priority during this time everyone on our property is required to wear a mask at all times in our buildings. Thank you.

Office hours are open and operating on normal schedule

Administrative Office:

M - F 8:15am - 4pm

(closed 11:30am - 12:15pm for lunch)

Soup Line*: M - F: doors open 12pm & close at 12:30pm

Weekend & Holidays: doors open at 12:45pm and close at 1:15pm

Evening Chapel/Meal*: 7pm daily

Overnight Shelter: 5pm daily check in           

*Soup Line & Evening Chapel/Meal are currently meeting in the Trinity Center until further notice

COVID-19 FOOD BAG ASSISTANCE

We realize that these are difficult times and many people are worried about jobs, bills, and other things and we want to help where we can. Feeding yourself or your family shouldn't cause extra stress so we are offering food bag assistance to any individual or family in need. Just call our office during business hours to schedule an appointment to pick up a food bag. It's that simple. Read the graphic to get all the details and call us to schedule an appointment time.

REOPENING INFORMATION

Thrift Store Info

Hagerstown: MON-SAT 9am - 4:30pm

Chambersburg: MON-SAT 9am - 4pm

-We will be operating at 50% capacity

-Masks must be worn at all times in ANY buildings at The Hope Center including our Thrift Stores. Entry into the building without a mask is not permitted and will not be tolerated.

-Please abide by social distancing guidelines by staying a safe 6ft away from other customers and Thrift Store staff.

-Dressing rooms are temporarily closed for now.

-Free bread and pastries are still available but ONLY at our daily SOUP LINE in the Trinity Center. Soup Line info is posted below.

-We reserve the right to inspect any & all bags

-Voucher program resumes 6/8/20. New voucher guidelines listed below.
