Our voucher program is designed to help give people in our community who are on a very tight budget a chance to get some of the necessary items needed in order to succeed.
By providing gently used coats, shoes, winter gear and clothing, our voucher program gives individuals and families the opportunity to make sure they have the necessities to succeed.
Vouchers are given in the Administrative Office at The Hope Center Monday - Friday 9am - 11:30am and 12:15pm - 2pm (dates and times are subject to change. To stay up-to-date please follow us on Facebook or Twitter). Our Administrative Office is closed for lunch from 11:30am - 12:15pm.

To begin the voucher process we will need:
Proof of income* (you or head of household)
Social Security card for each person (including children)
Proof of residency in Washington County, MD or Franklin County, PA
*Income includes current food bank card, proof you are receiving WIC/food stamps OR any payment from your place of employment, SSI benefits, Social Security, disability, unemployment, etc. We will be using the income guidelines from SNAP.
Each person 18 years of age or older must request their own application.
PLEASE NOTE: Vouchers can be used at The Hope Center Thrift Store Hagerstown location only from 9am-12pm and 1pm - 3pm. Voucher must be used completely in one shopping trip. If the purchase total is more than the voucher total you may pay the difference or return item(s) to the rack. You will be eligible for another voucher 60 days from the issue date.
Type of Vouchers
Maximum $10 value (may pay difference if total goes above $10)
You have 7 (seven) days to use voucher from issue date BUT voucher must be spent on 1 (one) trip to our Thrift Stores.
Upon checking out, please present voucher first before cashier begins the check-out process.
Thrift Store employees may be able to help select items.
You are available for a new voucher every 60 (sixty) days
Maximum $7.50 value (No option to pay the difference)
One coat voucher per winter season
We are sometimes able to help with essential household items
Depending on availability, items like dishes, drinking glasses, pans, blankets, sheets and towels can be given
Voucher is taken to Thrift Store and employee will choose items for you
You can receive help with household items ONCE in a 12 (twelve) month period
Furniture: there is a waiting list for couches, beds, kitchen tables, chairs and dressers. Names will be retained on the list for 6 (six) months.
We do not provide appliances, microwaves, curtains, lamps, rugs, toys or TV's.
NO HOUSEHOLD ITEMS
When you donate any of your gently used items, they will be sorted and priced for sale in one of our two Thrift Stores. All items dontated could be used to help individuals and families in need through out voucher program. We do not specifically set items aside for hand-out purposes only. All items will first go to our stores and then distributed there to those with vouchers.
When you donate items, these items go towards helping may different people in a multiple of ways. Proceeds generated from sales of donated items in our Thrift Stores help to underwrite the operational costs of our free facilities and programs/services. We do not receive any tax money so The Hope Center is funded through financial donations and sales of items in our Thrift Stores.
