Letter from our

Executive Director,

Bruce Shank

In the classic hymn, Rescue the Perishing, by Fannie Crosby, the first verse reads:

Rescue the perishing, care for the dying

Snatch them in pity from sin and the grave.

Weep o'er the erring one, lift up the fallen

Tell them of Jesus, the mighty to save.

Rescue the perishing.

What a challenge to each one of us!

The world has a way of chewing people up and spitting them out - leaving them broken, destitute, and without hope. They are perishing with only sin and the grave to look forward to.

In chapter 4 of the book of Jonah, God spoke of those who are perishing when He said, "They cannot discern between their right hand and their left." Paul puts it another way in 2nd Timothy 2 when he says that they "have been taken captive by the devil to do his will."

Blinded to the truth they cannot discern their right hand from their left - right from wrong.

God has uniquely positioned The Hope Center to rescue those who are perishing and those who have fallen. The services provided by The Hope Center give relief and comfort to these men, women and children - while sharing with them the hope and freedom that can be found in Jesus Christ.

Some will see there is something about this Jesus - the only One who can transform their lives and bring true freedom - and they will begin a relationship with Him. A number of men will choose to make lasting changes in their lives by enrolling in our 13-month life recovery program, Foundations. Many, however, will take the relief and comfort and move on; but all will have been touched in some way by the love of Christ.

Your resources, your time, your talents and your prayers enable The Hope Center to be a lighthouse in our community where those who are perishing and without hope can be rescued and have renewed hope through the message of the Gospel.

Thank you for being an instrument of HOPE!

Serving with you,

Bruce L. "Sonny" Shank
